Senior Laravel/Vue.js Engineer

Join a team obsessed with building SaaS products that turn have-to moments into happy-to ones.

Our Industry: PropTech / FinTech

Real estate is one of the world's biggest and oldest industries, and one of the least digitized. That makes it a playground for problem-solvers who love fixing inefficiency and building software that makes people's lives easier.

Our integrated PropTech + FinTech platforms are changing how agencies run their rental businesses, helping them move faster, serve clients better, and create real value for landlords and tenants alike.

We could talk about AI, ML, blockchain, or IoT, but what drives us is Human Intelligence. We build tools that make our users sharper, faster, and more capable, using whatever tech helps us do that best.

Our Company

Founded in 2014 on Christian values: Integrity, Accountability, Radical Candor, Good Stewardship, and Servant Leadership. These guide how we build, lead, and treat each other.

Bootstrapped and profitable, with zero outside investors. That gives us the freedom to build products the right way, not the rushed way.

We care deeply about culture, craftsmanship, and balance, creating an environment where people can do their best work and still have a life.

Preparing for international expansion over the next 2-3 years while strengthening our position as South Africa's leading PropTech innovator.

Proud creators of two of the fastest-growing PropTech platforms in the country, with more than 800,000 assets already managed on our platforms across South Africa.

Our Culture

We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We care deeply about people, craftsmanship, and doing what we say we'll do. Our culture is built on trust, respect, and a shared commitment to building solutions and people that last.

Hybrid work model: Two days a week at our Northern Suburbs office in Cape Town for collaboration, connection, and great coffee. The rest is flexible, for when you need deep focus.
No politics. No micromanagement. We hire adults and treat them like adults.
We care about how we show up. We listen well, speak honestly, and assume positive intent, because how we treat each other is part of the work.
Growth is a team sport. We celebrate wins, share feedback openly, and invest in people who want to keep learning and improving.
Servant leadership, not hierarchy. Everyone contributes. Everyone helps. No one's too important to roll up their sleeves.
We give back. Sinov8 Cares: we match your donations to charities you believe in. Two Sparrows Foundation is our long-term initiative to make a lasting difference in our communities.
We build workplaces where people love Mondays. Because meaningful work, good people, and shared purpose shouldn't only exist on weekends.

Our Ideal Candidate

You're not just looking for a job. You're looking for a place where your craft matters and your growth is taken seriously.

You have 5+ years of experience with Laravel and Vue.js in production environments
You write clean, testable code and care about architecture decisions
You've mentored junior developers and enjoy helping others level up
You communicate clearly: in code reviews, in standups, and in Slack
You're comfortable owning features from database design to deployment
You have experience with RESTful API design and can think in systems
You value simplicity over cleverness and shipping over perfecting

Main Responsibilities

Leadership
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level developers through pair programming and code reviews
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape our technical direction
  • Champion engineering best practices: testing, CI/CD, documentation
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing through tech talks, demos, and written guides
Technical
  • Design and implement new features across our Laravel backend and Vue.js frontend
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs that serve multiple client applications
  • Write comprehensive tests (PHPUnit, Pest, Vitest) and maintain high code coverage
  • Optimize application performance: query optimization, caching strategies, lazy loading
  • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives
  • Deploy and monitor production applications with confidence

Who You'll Work With

You'll report directly to our tech-lead and founders, who are still hands-on in both product and code, so your ideas won't get lost in layers of management.

You'll collaborate with world-class engineers, QE's, product managers and our commercialization partner WeconnectU, who handles marketing, sales, and frontline support, so you can focus on building and shipping great software.

You'll join a team full of curious, creative humans: from chess players to coffee geeks, chili artisans and gamers and everything in between. It's never boring here.

Benefits & Perks

Competitive pay for great people who build great products
Free lunch on office days, because good food fuels good work
Unlimited artisan coffee, roasted locally and brewed by in-house baristas-in-training (we believe great coffee = great code)
New gear setup for your laptop, screen, and workspace essentials
Upskilling support for any training, courses, or materials that help you and the company grow
Performance bonuses when we win together
We'll contribute towards your relocation costs to Cape Town

Onboarding

We take onboarding seriously. Here's what your first few months look like:

Week 1: Meet the team, set up your environment, ship your first small PR
Week 2-3: Pair with your team lead on a medium feature. Learn the codebase and our patterns
Month 1: Own your first feature end-to-end with support from your team
Month 2-3: Take on increasing responsibility, start participating in architecture discussions

Next Steps

If you are ready to take on the biggest and most rewarding challenge of your life, then come have a coffee with us. We'd love to hear why you think you're the ideal candidate for this position. We look forward to meeting you! Our recruitment process usually consists of:

CV screening, reviewing your portfolio of work or anything else you feel will show off your skills
We'll invite you to submit a 5 Minute video introduction (we'll send you the topics to cover)
If we like what we've seen so far we'll setup a first screening call to align expectations both ways and get to know each other a bit
A technical assignment to validate technical abilities (typically a 4 to 16 hour project)
A short interview with our independent business coach
An in-person interview at our offices (via Teams if in-person is not possible)
If we are happy with all that we've learned about you, and you really impressed us with your technical skills, then we send you an offer letter which you can take into consideration and hopefully accept
